When weak -

Here in the midst of the worst state of mind, the loneliest place of all, and without hope to cling to, I must remember this one thing. It isn’t about me; it isn’t about how I feel. I am His workmanship created in Christ (Ephesians 2:10).

Things may look difficult, they may appear bleak and without remedy, but as one person to another, someone who is presently walking through a troubled season in mire and deep darkness, let me say that even though I cannot see my way out, there is One who sees me.

I recall a story of a house fire, and a young child was trapped, unable to get out through the bedroom door and with only a window on the second floor. The parents had escaped and thought the child was also in a safe place. When they realized the child was trapped on the second floor, with no means of escape other than to jump out the window - the father went toward the house, and stood under the window to his son’s room and in a loud and confident voice (as not to scare the child) said, “You have to jump, daddy will catch you!” The boy yelled through the smoke, “But I can’t see you, daddy!” was the scared response. The father a little more forceful now said, “I know, but it’s okay, I can see you!” with this, the child jumped out the window and into the waiting arms of his daddy.

This illustrates how we may be walking through the smoke of our lives, that of pain, shame, trauma, and other such things that we can’t see our way out of them. Our Father, who is in heaven, sees us clearly through the smoke-storm and calls out to us to trust Him even when we cannot see. I am in such a predicament presently, not able to see the end of things, only the beginning of things and where I currently stand in the midst of a mess. God sees the end from the beginning, and He knows that I am precisely where He wants me to be at this time so that He can mold me and instruct me. It is in this uncertain and unclear time where He can have His best working in my life since I am weak, and when I am weak, then He is altogether strong and mighty (2 Corinthians 12:8-10). It is here in this time of weakness that His strength is perfected in and through me - my job is to be still and know that He is God, that He is working all things together for His glorious purpose and for my good, since I love Him and He knows what I need, what is for my good so that I can grow.

What about you, friend? Where are you struggling and suffering right now? Will you allow God almighty to have a fresh working in your soul and in your life so that He is glorified and you are made well?
