Say I Won’t…
‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble’ (Psalm 46:1, NKJV).
Let me ask you this - what is troubling you that God cannot resolve or bring peace to? Are there things in your life where you are convinced that you can’t? For instance,
I can’t be good enough.
I can’t overcome anxiety.
I can’t make it through my fears.
I can’t move forward through this pain or trauma.
Let me say if this is you, or if there are other things such as PTSD, and other disturbances in which you believe you cannot… I want to say, He can. God is more than able to do in your life that which you cannot do!
He provided such a great salvation through Jesus - this is not something any of us is capable of accomplishing.
As a response to His finished work on the cross, we can say to the enemy of our soul, the enemy of our life, the liar, the deceiver, the murderer from the beginning - his name is the devil - say to him, “I already have, I am an overcomer through Jesus, the lover of my soul, through the Lord of mercy who has delivered us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into His marvelous light.” (see Colossians 1:13).
Say I won’t overcome PTSD? I say Jesus nailed it to the cross. I still struggle, but that is with my flesh, trying to take control where Jesus already conquered, so I need to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of my flesh (see Galatians 5:16) I can do all things through Christ who has strengthens me (see Philippians 4:13). He sustains my weary soul, He is the lifter of my head, He nourishes me daily.
I don’t have to walk in defeat I have overcome through the blood of the Lamb, (see Revelation 12:11). We are already victorious through Him who loves us, yet sometimes we find ourselves walking through the past. When that happens, allow the tenderness of the Lord to bring you safely through the memories, the hypervigilance, the pain, and give Him thanks.
There are many things we can do to help walk forward along this journey.
Be prayerful
Trust the Lord in the process and in the waiting.
If you are doing some counseling, stay focused.
If you are not in some counseling, group or other, consider if that may be right for you.
Wait in the timing of the Lord. I have struggled for a while, and I know He is using this in my life to help others (as they also help me).
Sometimes the Lord will bring healing instantaneously, other times, He allows the stuff in our life to bring Him glory while we move through it, and sometimes the Lord brings people alongside of us to help us walk when we feel that we cannot.
I encourage you, keep fighting the good fight and running the race. Seek the Lord, trust His timing, be patient in the waiting, and know you are not alone.
