Treatment Resistant?

What does it mean to be treatment resistant? Have you tried the two main ways to find wellness for your PTSD? Those ways are generally medication, or therapy - or combinations of the two. Cognitive Behavioral Health Therapy, sertraline, or Cognitive Processing Therapies, or other therapeutic interventions and medications… only to discover and determine that you are not responding to them?

After attempting to process therapy (talk therapy, EMDR, CBT, CPT…) and medications you are frustrated that you are not feeling better, you are resistant to those interventions. Now what?

New research from Tel Aviv University has successfully relieved symptoms in PTSD among combat veterans by using a new protocol of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).

This research has proven relief for intrusive symptoms such as avoidance, mood changes, depression, and other symptoms. This is good news for those who don’t respond to traditional methods of treatment.

So? Is this right for you? I don’t know. Are you seeking to find wellness in your life in all areas - mind, soul, body? Have you sought the Lord? Read what the Psalmist says;

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them (Psalm 34:4-7, NKJV).

I don’t know if HBOT is a treatment option for you, but I know that the Lord can bring about healing, restoration, hope, and help - He is an ever present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Medications may not work, treatments like counseling, EMDR, HBOT may not be effective, but the Lord Jesus knows all about you, He formed you and knit you together before you were born (see Psalm 139:13-16). The Lord knows all about your troubles -

There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus: No, not one! No, not one! None ese could heal all our soul's’ diseases: No, not one! No, not one! Jesus knows all about our struggles; He will guide ‘til the day is done: There’s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus: No, not one! No, not one! (Johnson Oatman Jr. / 1856-1926, lyrics, George Crawford Hugg / 1848-1907, music).

Not only does Jesus know all about our struggles, He is able to bring comfort through our distresses, hope in our darkness, healing and health into our distress and diseases! Have you trusted in Him for this?

I am blessed to see new treatment options, and sciences being performed and offered for all manner of disease and distresses - HBOT has had some successful interactions among many who have tried it.

Pray about how to move ahead - seek the Lord and ask for wholeness in your life. See how He responds. Sometimes He brings healing supernaturally - sometimes He brings hope through medical interventions… Sometimes He says ‘My grace is sufficient for you’ (2 Corinthians 12:8-10).

However He chooses to intervene in your circumstances, be thankful - He knows what is best and when it is best to be delivered to you. Can you trust in that? He is faithful and holy, He knows you better than you know yourself, so He knows how to intercede for you.

Be blessed as you contemplate this truth, and wait patiently for the Lord as He brings about change through His mercy and grace.

Be well my friends…
