More than Words
Sometimes words fail us. At least they do for me. The Bible reminds me many times not of my failures, but of His unfailing love and grace.
A song by Sidewalk Prophets called, “Know that You are Loved” says this:
‘I don’t know how you have been broken, but I know that you are loved - There is no burden you could carry that would be too much for us, so when your world is torn and shattered and all your dreams are left undone - No matter what may come… just know that you are loved.’
What a powerful thought - powerful words from the heart! We are loved, and there is no broken place that the Lord can’t see, but also know - He can also bring His healing and grace, and strength into those broken areas.
Words may fail, people will fail and falter. I am one of those people who will fail, and falter who needs His grace and strength - mercy and love - Jesus never fails.
Lamentations 3: says this: “The LORD’s loyal kindness never ceases, His compassions never end. They are fresh every morning; Your faithfulness is abundant! My portion is the LORD, I have said to myself, so I will put my hope in Him” (3:22-24, NET).
His kindness never ceases - our words may fail - His kindness is eternal. In the King James Version (yes the authorized version) it says it this way -
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is Thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him” (Lamentations 3:22-24, AKJV).
His compassions fail not - today we would say it this way - His compassions do not fail, nor can they because He is God alone, His mercies sustain us, His love overshadows us, His grace is poured over us time, and time again. We are not consumed because of who He is, who He has always been, yet we need to understand who He really is. He is more than we think, He has loved you and me in our UN love able-ness …
Romans 5:8 declares this strong truth - “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
God demonstrates His very love (used in the AKJV as commendeth) - This is a word that means He proved His love, He demonstrated His love, He exhibited His love toward us -
He did it when we were sinners - His very enemy.
You see my words fall short, since much of the time my actions fall short. the Words of God never fall short - they are amazing and life sustaining - because they are Life- He breathed into us and we became alive.
My words fail - His never will - they will all come to pass- everyone of them.
His words never fail or fall short since He acts upon them and in them.
God spoke and it came to being. Jesus said “away from me Satan because it is written…
Matthew 4:1-11 is a tremendous account of the power of the word of the Lord.
MT 4:4 - But He (Jesus) answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, by by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (NKJV).
MT 4:7 - Jesus said to him (the devil, the enemy), “It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God” (NKJV)
MT 4:10 - Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve” (NKJV).
Every word of the Lord, penned in the Scripture, spoken by the Living God are trustworthy!
My words fail - His never do. What are you listening to today in the midst of your pain and struggle with PTSD or other things? Take time to sit and be still in His presence and listen to Jesus - He will tell you the truth, choose Him, His words, and choose life over your situation, your struggle your pain.
Will you?
May you find hope in this short blog. I don’t know how you have been broken - but trust me, you are loved by the One who loved you with His life and through His death and resurrection. He is waiting to hear from you, and then asks you to hear Him in your struggle and suffering.
Be strengthened and encouraged!
